The Government of India observes December 22nd as Mathematics Day each year in the honour of the eminent mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan's birthday. Sankalchand Patel University affiliated Engineering College and Nootan Science College arranged a poster presentation, model, games, puzzle, and quiz competition to commemorate Mathematics Day. The topics covered the applications of Mathematics in daily life and Srinivas Ramanujan's mathematical study.
There were more than 100 participants, including students from affiliated colleges and other universities. There were 8 teams in quiz competition, 7 teams in presentation, 15 teams in models and puzzles and 17 teams in poster presentation participated. Under the excellent leadership of Shri Prakashbhai Patel and guidance of Provost Dr. D. J. Shah, Gujarat Ganit Mandal Joint Secretary Dr. Sachin Gajjar as a Resource Person were present to grace the event.
Magic Squares and interest in Mathematics were discussed. At the conclusion of the programme, awards were given to the winners to felicitate the students. Dr. Santosh Shah - the principal of SPCE, Dr. Rajesh Patel – Principal of Nootan Science College, the Head of the Mathematics Department Dr. Jayesh Patel, under the coordination of Prof. Vidhi Patel and Prof. Jaiswal and other staff members the whole program was managed.
