Information and communication technology (ICT) has been promoted in education through a number of creative efforts recently undertaken by MHRD, UGC, and the Government of India. Sankalchand Patel University in Visnagar established an E-Content Development Cell as a result of this. The cell aims to inspire the professors to be creative of their academic writing. It strives to maximize the creation and accessibility of online materials, including texts, videos, animations, web connections, and quizzes. The cell’s main objective is to build and maintain knowledge based on pertinent topics and problems across a range of disciplines. This would improve student learning possibilities.

• The Cell’s goal is to connect with as many online beneficiaries as possible by disseminating college knowledge resources and seeking outside experts to prepare students for the difficulties of the digital world.
• To promote and facilitate the staff members’ independent e-content creation through ongoing training sessions and seminars.
• Establish partnerships with surrounding academic institutions to continue the development of new methodologies and material.

With these objectives, the cell will be coordinating following digital platform:

(1) Moodle Based Campus Digital Learning –

Moodle is a learning management system that is open-source and free. It is used in schools, universities, businesses, and other settings for blended learning, distant learning, flipped classrooms, and other online learning initiatives. The department of computer engineering and information technology is already working on it, and other institute faculty members will be trained shortly.

(2) SWAYAM NPTEL Local Chapter –

National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a project of MHRD to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs. The main objective was to create video courses in engineering and management courses. To encourage more students to participate in this initiative, SWAYAM-NPTEL chapter has been established at Sankalchand Patel University. Mr. Mehul Patel (Faculty of Information Technology) has been nominated as the single point of contact.

(3) Indian Institute of Remote Sensing(IIRS) – Unit of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) –  IIRS is a premier Training and Educational Institute set up for developing trained professionals in the field of Remote Sensing, GPS Technology and Geo-informatics. Its aim is to provide online learning platforms for space technology and its applications. The live and interactive sessions are conducted by experts from IISR-ISRO and other knowledge Institutions. The e-learning contents are created as interactive multimedia application and integrated with customized LMS based on Moodle. SPU is now a network institute of IIRS outreach network.
