Under the successful leadership of Shri Prakashbhai Patel, the prestigious Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar, inaugurated the National Wheelchair Cricket Tournament for the first time in Gujarat on March 15, 2024. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Shri Shardaben Patel, Member of Parliament from Mahesana district, Shri Chandubhai Bhati, Executive Committee Member of the Para Olympic Committee of India, Shri Kantibhai Parmar, Chairman of the Para Sports Association of Gujarat, and other dignitaries. The event was attended by trustees, the Provost Dr. P.M. Udani, Registrar Dr. Parimal Trivedi, and the entire Sankalchand Patel University family.
Teams from various states such as Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Karnataka, are enthusiastically participating in this tournament. On this occasion, President Prakashbhai Patel expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the North Gujarat Disabled Welfare Association for their support, as this tournament is a matter of great pride for the university and the entire state of Gujarat.
He thanked honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for giving the nickname "Divyang" to these specially-abled children years ago, which not only helped them to understand their identity but also encouraged them to excel in various fields. He praised their success and advancement in different areas even today and assured them of full support for organizing any kind of tournament for these specially-abled players in the future. This tournament will be held from March 15 to March 19, 2024, at the cricket ground of Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar.
He invited the people of Visnagar taluka to come and witness this tournament and encourage these players. He also assured that in the future, our university will always be ready to organize any kind of tournament for these specially-abled players, as expressed by Shri Prakashbhai Patel.
