On March 8th, Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar, in partnership with Ashirwad Foundation from Ahmedabad, celebrated International Women's Day in a truly unique way. The university hosted the “Walk for Her” event, aimed at raising awareness and providing support for breast cancer treatment.
This event was graced by Ashirwad Foundation's coordinator, Mr. Shreyansh Dalal, along with the University President Mr. Prakashbhai Patel, Provost Dr. Prafulkumar Udani, and Registrar Dr. Parimal Trivedi. Over 1,500 female staff members, students, and faculty members participated, each walking 2,100 steps or more to contribute to this noble cause.
Various activities, games, and a special lunch were organized for the occasion, with gifts presented to every female staff member. The university recognized and honored the vital role women play in its development, with President Mr. Prakashbhai Patel emphasizing the university's commitment to women’s empowerment.
This year’s International Women's Day theme was "Accelerate Action." As part of the “Walk for Her” initiative, the university collectively contributed over 1.25 crore steps, which will provide free breast cancer treatment to around 2,500 women. Each 5,000 steps donated will help fund the treatment of one woman.
Mr. Shreyansh Dalal expressed heartfelt gratitude for the university's continuous support over the last two years, while also thanking the organizing committee and staff for their dedication to the cause.
