Community-centred voluntary service: Sponsored by India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, SPU’s NSS units engage students in social outreach focused on cleanliness, environmental conservation, health awareness, tree planting, and disaster preparedness

On 11th August 2023, NSS unit and BBA department organized an NSS orientation program with the help of NSS programme officer Mr. Mitesh Thakor gave insights about the NSS activities done in the college. Dr Rakesh Patel was the speaker of the events, he gave briefs about the NSS activities. The objectives of NSS was also discussed like to understand the community in which they work, understand themselves in relation to their community; identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility; utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems; develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities; gain skills in mobilizing community participation; acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude, develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and practice national integration and social harmony. The students of BBA sem – I participated in the event. The outcome of the event was the students gained the idea about NSS activity and importance of NSS in college life.
On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 9:30 AM, the NSS Unit of Swami Sachchidanand Polytechnic College, under the auspices of Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar, organized the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally, symbolizing the honor, pride, and glory of the nation. The rally was flagged off from the main gate of Sankalchand Patel University by the President of Visnagar Municipality, Hon. Shri Uttambhai Patel, Chief Officer Shri Parthbhai Trivedi, and University President Shri Prakashbhai Patel. This rally was organized as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ celebration from August 9 to 15, initiated by our esteemed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to awaken a sense of patriotism. Trustees of Nootan Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal, the University’s Provost Dr. P.N. Udani, Registrar Dr. Parimal Trivedi, Deans/Principals of various institutions, and approximately fifteen hundred students enthusiastically participated in the rally, moving to the rhythm of the DJ. The Tiranga rally commenced from Sankalchand Patel University, passed through Mehsana Crossroads and Three Towers, and returned to Sankalchand University. The entire atmosphere during the rally was imbued with a deep sense of patriotism.
Sankalchand Patel University and its NSS Unit jointly orchestrated the “Amrit Kalash Yatra” in response to the call made by our esteemed Prime Minister, Shree Narendra Modi, under the banner of “Meri Metti Mera Desh” (My Soil, My Nation). This initiative saw the presence of University President, Shree Prakash Patel, alongside various officers and students. The primary objective of this event was to pay homage to the brave martyrs of our nation. During the Amrit Kalash Yatra, students, faculty, and department heads from all academic divisions of Sankalchand Patel University came together to gather soil and grains from diverse departments. The collected Amrit Kalash will be dispatched to Delhi as a mark of respect to the martyrs.
NSS Day was celebrated on 24-9-2022 by Shri CJ Patel College of Computer Studies (BCA) run by Sankalchand Patel University. NSS which is known across the country as National Service Scheme. As this September 24, 2022 was NSS Day, various activities were organized by BCA College of Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar. Like primary school children were made aware of NSS and computers, efforts were made to create awareness towards literacy by explaining the importance of literacy to the underprivileged village children and the elderly under the literacy campaign, Warm clothes were distributed to the needy citizens living in the villages and Road Motorists driving above were made aware of the traffic rules.
