  • To create awareness about IPRs, especially patents, in the state and neighbouring regions of this centre.
  • To enable patent searches for universities, industry, government Departments and RD institutions in the state.
  • To guide inventors in respect of patenting their inventions.
  • To Setup IP Cell at Universities and Engineering Colleges.
  • Training and capacity building in post patent filing activities i.e Technology Valuation audit, Technology licensing and Technology transfer commercialization.

Activity Organized

  • Faculties of constituents of SPU will get awareness about IPR filing. They Will also receive training patent filing process, also they will get a chance to Attend various workshops, seminar on IPR filing and process about the Same.
  • They will also be able to protect their innovations and student innovations By filing the patent.
  • All the patents which will be filed in future will be in affiliation(joint names) Of the university and the inventor.

Future Plans

  • Conduct IPR awareness programmes in collaboration with PIC of GUJCOST.
  • Shall strive to provide the information to students, researchers, faculties And scientists about the need for protection of their creations and ways for Protection of their inventions through IP.
  • Shall conduct seminars and conferences in the IPR domain and avail the Funding facility of GUJCOST.
  • IPR cell shall organize customized programs for the specific needs of Inventor, entrepreneur, creator of arts, institute etc. Shall include IP as a Part of curriculum at the appropriate level (UGC mandate).
  • Shall conduct idea competitions and/or solicit inventions and grant prizes To the winners along with analysing potential patent-ability of the Product/process at least once a year.
  • Shall adopt necessary means to connect with National IPR Policy and Related campaigns like Make in India, Digital India, Skill India, Start-up India, Smart Cities, and other initiatives in the future.
  • Shall provide guidance to researchers on National priority areas of research.
  • Should provide activity report and outcome at the end of the year, including Number of Patents, TM, and Designs filed.
  • Should submit Utilization Certificate and Statement of Expenditure of the Granted support by the end of financial year (If financial support is provided By GUJCOST).
  • Will be Helpful in patent searches.
  • Will Facilitate filing of patent and other IPR applications, identifying patent Agents/attorneys etc.
  • The extended functions of the PIC are to support faculties/research Scholars/students for securing protection for other IPs like Trademark, Design, Copyright, Geographical Indication etc. and also for post application Matters.
