Nootan Medical College and Research Centre, a constituent institute of Sankalchand Patel University Celebrated White Coat Ceremony for 7th MBBS Batch (2025-26) in august presence of Chairman of National Medical Commission.
Nootan Medical College and Research Centre (NMCRC), a constituent institute of Sankalchand Patel University (SPU), organized the prestigious White Coat Ceremony for its 7th batch of MBBS students (Academic Year 2025-26) on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The ceremony is a significant milestone in the journey of aspiring doctors reflecting transition into the clinical phase of their medical education.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Vijaysingh Baghel, Dean of NMCRC, who congratulated the new batch and briefed the institution's commitment in providing world-class medical training.
Dr. Abhijat Sheth, Chairman of the National Medical Commission (NMC) graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. In his address, the Chief Guest emphasized the evolving responsibilities of medical professionals in the modern era and encouraged students to uphold the highest standards of ethics and clinical excellence. He also emphasised a triad of pillars essential for the evolution of modern medicine: Effective communication, robust clinical research and digital health integration in medical science.
Distinguished medical professional Dr. Anil Nayak, National President IMA HQ attended the event as Guest of Honour. He has been associated with SPU since long as BOG member. He has been mentoring the university for health science program and academics. He has been a driving force behind establishment of various health science programs including development of university infrastructural capabilities and bringing experienced faculties to the SPU. He also ensured to the students and their parents that they will get best education. He shared insights from his vast experiences, highlighting the importance of empathy, lifelong learning, and dedication to patient care.
Dr. Anil Patel, President IMA Gujarat State Branch attended the event as Guest of Honour. He has advised the students to be good medical professionals and adopt good standards of patient care.
The gathering was addressed by Shri Prakashbhai Patel, President of SPU. The leadership highlighted the university's role in fostering an environment of research and innovation, urging students to utilize the state-of-the-art facilities available at the Visnagar campus. He also emphasised about the campus infrastructure and high-end equipment available in the hospital and how the hospital has contributed to quality community healthcare services across North Gujarat.
Dr. P. M. Udani, Provost, SPU also addressed the gathering and elaborated the importance of recent artificial intelligence-based technology in medical education and healthcare services.
The highlight of the event was the donning of the white coats, where the dignitaries formally draped the students in their professional attire. This was followed by the administration of Charak Oath, symbolizing the students' commitment to the medical profession.
The event was attended by University Officers, Principals and Deans of other constituent institutes of SPU, faculty members, students and their parents.
Nootan Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal (NSVKM) was founded in 1952 by Shri Sankalchand Patel (Dada), a visionary freedom fighter and social entrepreneur who transformed Visnagar into a prominent educational hub in North Gujarat and the trust was established to fulfill the educational and socio-cultural needs of North Gujarat.
In 2016, under the leadership of Shri Prakashbhai Patel, the trust's institutions were integrated to form Sankalchand Patel University (SPU).
Today, the Trust manages institutions across various fields, including Medical, Dental, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, and Management, serving over 10,000 students on an 84-acre campus. Nootan Medical College and Research Centre has annual intake of 150 MBBS seats and 43 MD/MS seats across 13 postgraduate streams.
The legacy of Sankalchand Dada continues through Sankalchand Patel University, which remains the primary educational force in the region.
