Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar celebrated Research Day on the 12th of August, 2023 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Vikram A. Sarabhai, distinguished Indian Physicist & the founding Father of the Prestigious Indian Space Research Programme. The program was organized by Dr. Ujashkumar A. Shah (Dean-CRI), Dr. Hiral Parikh (Assoc. Dean-CRI), Dr. Santosh Shah (Assoc. Dean-CRI), and other members of the Centre for Research & Innovation.
We at SPU are relentlessly committed to undertake & conduct systematic academic & sponsored Research programs for achieving our cherished mission of building a world-class university. Further, in our untiring endeavor to promote and inculcate the culture of fundamental & interdisciplinary research amongst the young & dynamic minds, several exciting research-oriented competitive activities & events were organized by various constituent institutions of SPU. A great zeal & enthusiasm was observed among the research scholars during the competitive activities which were based on innovative research themes. Winners were felicitated with awards & appraisal certificates.
The Research Day program was chaired by Hon' President SPU, Shri Prakash Patel & was graced by the great presence of eminent Scientists & Entrepreneurial experts such as Dr. Chandra M. Kishtawal, Senior Scientist, ISRO, Shri Vikas Gupta, Joint Director & Office Head, MSME-DFO, Ahmedabad and others.
At the outset, Dean (CRI) Dr. Ujashkumar A. Shah presented a progress report of CRI elaborating on different Research & SSIP activities implemented & undertaken by CRI during the calendar year along with various plans & strategies to be adopted in the coming times.
In his eye-opening speech, the Hon' Provost of SPU provided his precious insights on how the young demographic potential of India can be skilled & deployed to attain its commitment to achieving the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the critical areas of clean water & clean energy.
In his inaugural speech, the chief guest Dr. Chandra M. Kisthawal explained the untiring journey of ISRO in developing indigenous space Technologies to become an undaunted world leader in International Space Research programs. Shri Prakash Patel, Hon'ble President in his Presidential speech inspired the young, budding researchers & emphasized the need of using innovative ideas for conducting core & interdisciplinary research work in the fields of Science, Engineering & Technology, Medicine & other relevant areas for uplifting the underprivileged, betterment of society & progress of our Nation. A total of Rs 22 Lakhs were awarded to the colleges as research incentives.
The research day program was successfully conducted under the kind patronage of the Hon'ble President Shri Prakash Patel & Provost Dr. P.M. Udani coupled with untiring efforts from the entire core team of CRI.
