Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar, organized a magnificent two-day Navratri Festival “Thanganat – 2025” on 25th and 26th September 2025. The festival was celebrated with great devotion, joy, and cultural pride, bringing together thousands of students, staff, and guests in a vibrant display of music, dance, and tradition.
The University has always believed in the holistic development of students. Along with academic excellence, it aims to preserve Indian culture, promote folk arts, and instill values of unity and togetherness. Thanganat has been organized by the University every year since 2016, and it has now become a unique cultural identity of North Gujarat, attracting widespread participation.
On the first day (25th September 2025), the evening began with a soulful performance by the renowned folk singer Mirande Shah, who filled the atmosphere with devotion and energy. More than 10,000 students, staff members, and invited guests, dressed in traditional attire, joined in the Garba, dancing gracefully to the beats of dhol and music. The presence of Shri Rushikeshbhai Patel, Cabinet Minister of Health, Family Welfare, Medical Education, Higher and Technical Education, Government of Gujarat, as the Chief Guest, along with several dignitaries including Shri Mayankbhai Nayak (Member of Parliament), Shri Bagrishbhai Ranjgor (Mahesana District BJP President), Shri Mukeshbhai Patel (MLA), and Dr. Anilbhai Patel (President, Gujarat IMA), added grandeur to the event.
The second day (26th September 2025) witnessed an electrifying performance by the famous Gujarati singer Arvind Vegda and his team, who brought immense energy and enthusiasm to the celebrations. Students, staff, and guests in colorful traditional outfits danced with joy to the spirited tunes of Ras-Garba. The campus was beautifully decorated, with a special selfie zone showcasing rural culture becoming a key attraction. The event was graced by Dr. Anilbhai Nayak (National President, IMA), Shri Haribhai Patel (Member of Parliament, Mahesana), and Shri Bhagaji Thakor (General Secretary, BJP Mahesana District), who encouraged and inspired the participants.
At the conclusion of the festival, students and staff who showcased outstanding performances in Garba and traditional attire were felicitated by the dignitaries and University leaders including University President Shri Prakashbhai Patel, Provost Dr. P. M. Udani, and Registrar Dr. Parimal Trivedi. In his address, President Shri Prakashbhai Patel warmly welcomed all guests and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their presence, emphasizing that through festivals like Thanganat, the University spreads the message of cultural heritage, unity, and youthful energy. Registrar Dr. Parimal Trivedi appreciated the dedicated efforts of all staff members of the University and its affiliated institutions for making the event a grand success.
The two-day “Thanganat – 2025” festival not only celebrated the divine spirit of Navratri but also became a symbol of cultural pride, unity, and joy at Sankalchand Patel University.
