Department of Public Health Dentistry, Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College and Hospital celebrated Day 3 of No Tobacco Week Celebration with a rally at Visnagar, Oral Health Education and Oral Cancer prevention for the public , habit counselling for tobacco users and screening of oral mucosal lesions camp at Ladol on 27th May, 2022.
The students from various institutes of Sankalchand Patel University and members of Gayatri Parivar all gathered at the starting point for the rally. The rally was inaugurated with the Gayatri Mantra by Jayeshbhai Kansara and members of Gayatri Parivar. Dignitaries from the University, our Trustees, Shri Chandrakantbhai Patel and Shri Mahendrabhai Patel, Dr. J.R. Patel, (Provost SPU, Dean, NPDCH), Associate Dean, Dr. Vilas Patel and Heads of other Institutions were present during the inauguration ceremony of the rally.
Approximately, 400 students and faculty from the University were present for the rally. Education of the public and the street vendors was done by the students and staff of the University. Pamplets were distributed among the public. The students from Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College and Hospital, Visnagar enacted a play for the staff and students of ITI College, Visnagar. Later, a small skit was enacted by the members of Gayatri Parivar. This was done to promote the goal of tobacco free institutions in Mehsana. After conclusion of the performances, a No Tobacco Use Oath (in Gujrati ) was taken by all who participated in the rally. This was followed by a short prayer and the National Anthem. After this, the rally ended and refreshments were provided to all present there.
A camp was organised at Ladol Village, Vijapur, Mehsana district by Department of Public Health Dentistry at 10:30 am. Oral health screening for various diseases of the population was done. People were educated regarding the ill effects of tobacco and ways to quit the habit. Individuals in the villages who were detected by the oral Mucosal lesions, were later stained with the Toludiene Blue stain. Oral Health education and Oral Cancer prevention pamphlets distribution was done among the people of the village.
